Protected fish in offshore MPAs - WMS layers 2022

Abstract

These Web Map Service layers show point and polygon data for protected Priority Marine Features (PMFs) in offshore MPAs and other effective area-based measures in Scottish waters. Priority Marine Features are habitats and species considered to be of conservation importance in Scotland's seas. They include many features which are characteristic of the Scottish marine environment. The data layers combine information from the Geodatabase of Marine features adjacent to Scotland (GeMS) and data from JNCC and third party surveys.

WMS point layers are available for the following protected features:

  • Orange roughy – Protected fish points layer
  • Blue ling – Protected fish points layer
  • Leafscale Gulper Shark - Protected fish points layer
  • Portuguese Dogfish - Protected fish points Layer
  • Round-Nose Grenadier Protected fish points layer.
  • Sandeels – Protected fish points layer

A WMS polygon layer is available for the following protected feature:

  • Blue ling – Protected fish polygon layer

These layers are available to view on the JNCC MPA mapper and can also be accessed via our WMS: https://mpa-ows.jncc.gov.uk/mpa_mapper/wms.
