Julia Jones is Professor of Conservation Science in the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences, Bangor University and Prince Bernhard Chair in International Nature Conservation, Utrecht University (part-time appointment since 2021).
Julia is a Trustee of WWF-UK and is a member of the British Ecological Society and the Society for Conservation Biology. She has served on the Welsh Committee of the RSPB and is on the advisory board of the Sounds Right Initiative (a collaboration between the Museum of the UN and the music industry to allow nature to receive royalties from her music).
Julia joined the Joint Committee in June 2025, and was appointed as Co-Chair of the Chief Scientists' Group in August 2025.
