A UK Research Framework for Freshwater Conservation 2014

Abstract

Water is intrinsic to human activity and survival but freshwater species and habitats are threatened. It is vitally important that good research underlies the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems. This framework, which sets out future research needs, has been produced by freshwater specialists in the country agencies. In it, detailed research ideas are organised by high-level themes and linked to policy drivers such as the Water Framework Directive. It will help to plan programmes of freshwater research in the UK.

Specialists from the separate country nature conservation bodies, working in the Inter Agency Freshwater Group, have prepared this framework on behalf of JNCC.
