MPA Adaptive Management Project: North-West Regional Workshop (2A) (February 2019) – Outputs 2019

Abstract

Developing a participatory approach to the management of offshore MPAs in UK waters

This was the first regional workshop to discuss the North-West regional case study within the project 'developing a participatory approach to MPA management'. The documents include agenda, presentations and workshop report presenting key discussions from the workshop.

The workshop aim was to develop the process and framework for decision-making and improving understanding about how adaptive decisions can be made in the context of uncertainty. This included considering the data required to address any gaps in knowledge or help the decision-making process, the development of the first management scenarios for the ecological model, and the contents of the Management toolkit.

The workshop enabled collective discussion, with a focus on the regional specific options for adaptive MPA management and enabled participants to build some shared understanding of each other’s issues and concerns.
