Marine Protected Areas

This resource relates to a Web Map Service (WMS) layer showing Nature Conservation Marine Protected Area boundaries in Scottish waters. It was last updated in July 2017. JNCC have compiled this dataset using data from JNCC, Scottish Natural Heritage and the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.

Nature Conservation Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are designated under the Marine (Scotland) Act and the UK Marine and Coastal Access Act. They are part of a range of measures to manage and protect Scotland’s seas for current and future generations.

The layer is available to view on the JNCC MPA mapper and can also be accessed via our WMS:
