Geikie Slide and Hebridean Slope MPA Monitoring Report 2022

Abstract

The Geikie Slide and Hebridean Slope MPA (GSH) is an offshore MPA located to the west of Scotland and is designated for the protection of the sedimentary habitats offshore deep-sea muds, burrowed mud and offshore subtidal sands and gravels as well as the Geikie Slide Key Geodiversity Area and the wider Hebridean continental slope.

This initial monitoring report explores data acquired from the first dedicated monitoring survey of GSH. This data forms the first point in a monitoring time series allowing for future assessment of feature condition over time. The data will also inform the development of an effective site and feature-specific monitoring approach for the site.
