JNCC/SGMD Partnership Report 3: Pobie Bank Reef Marine Protected Area Survey Report (0923S) 2024

Abstract

This report describes the survey design and methodology of offshore survey 0923S, which visited Pobie Bank Reef (PBR) Special Area of Conservation (SAC) between 23 July and 4 August 2023, on the Marine Research Vessel (MRV) Scotia. Results of analyses of the data collected will be reported on separately.

The aim of survey 0923S was to acquire a robust sentinel monitoring dataset within Pobie Bank Reef to contribute to the monitoring time-series, the second dataset of this time-series for PBR, against which the rate and direction of change in the condition of the SAC features can be inferred in the long term.

Data from this survey will form part of a monitoring time series, and future repeated monitoring and evidence gathering will be required to fully investigate and understand the long-term variability in any parameters measured.
