Abstract

These Web Map Service layers show line and polygon data for protected geological or geomorphological features in offshore Scottish MPAs. The data have been extracted from v5.18 of the Geodatabase of Marine features adjacent to Scotland (GeMS).

The following protected features are included in the Scottish MPA geodiversity feature polygon layer:

  • Cenozoic Structures of the Atlantic Margin: Continental slope; Hebrides Terrace Seamount; Mud diapirs; Rosemary Bank Seamount
  • Marine Geomorphology of the Scottish Deep Ocean Seabed: Contourite sand/silt; Polygonal faults; Sand wave fields; Scour moat; Scour moats; Sediment drifts; Sediment wave fields
  • Marine Geomorphology of the Scottish Shelf Seabed: Sand bank; Sand wave fields; Sediment wave fields
  • Quaternary of Scotland: Continental slope channels; Iceberg ploughmark field; Moraines; Prograding wedges; Sub-glacial tunnel valley
  • Submarine Mass Movement: Continental slope turbidite canyons; Slide deposits; Slide scars
