Site boundaries of wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar Convention 2021

Abstract

Ramsar Sites are wetlands of international importance designated under the Convention on Wetlands. Provided here is a spatial dataset of Ramsar Site boundaries in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, based on information supplied by Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Northern Ireland Environment Agency, and Scottish Natural Heritage (now NatureScot). It does not cover the Crown Dependencies or UK Overseas Territories: boundary information for Ramsar Sites in these locations can be accessed through the Ramsar Sites Information Service.

Note that:

  • the information in this spatial dataset has not been updated to include changes to site boundaries since 2021;
  • the official site maps held by Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Northern Ireland Environment Agency or NatureScot should be consulted for definitive information on the official boundaries of Ramsar Sites.
