UK National Site Network updates: Explanatory Note and Change Log 2024

Abstract

JNCC coordinates an update to the UK National Site Network on an annual basis, working with the Statutory Nature Conservation Bodies (SNCBs) based on any updates in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and offshore marine. This information is provided on these webpages in the spring each year.

Provided here are the details of the latest updates to the UK National Site Network of Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), up to 25 October 2024, consisting of an Explanatory Note and a change log (in spreadsheet format).

  • The Explanatory Note (October 2024) provide a short summary of the changes (number and type of sites) within each update.
  • The Change Log spreadsheet (October 2024) provides the details of the changes made to the UK database of SAC and SPA sites, and the accompanying changes to the sites' Standard Data Forms.

A site summary spreadsheet is also available, containing UK-wide data for the UK National Site Network: UK National Site Network: Site summary details. This resource was updated in October 2024 to ensure consistency across reporting.

For more information on the UK's network of SPAs, visit the SPA webpage. For more information on the UK's network of SACs, visit the SAC webpage.
